monarch of the sky
you are about to take flight
courageous vision

yellow cobbled feet
white mantle, cloaked august-brown
sunlight-dappled wings

victorious shriek
bouncing echo multiplied
make the mountains sing

crisp-smelling morning
dew-speckled fresh light of dawn
aromatic musk

sudden seizing fear
morsel writhing powerless
unfortunate prey

solitary plume
sharp needle and fragile air
downward jettison

courageous vision
you are about to take flight
monarch of the sky

An ethnographic haiku about eagles for *DanteIncognito for winning first place in my cutie mark contest.

Ethnographic haiku must evoke three of the five senses; I tried to incorporate all five in the middle stanzas, one for each sense.
